Eyes Open Ride

James John is a 25 year old with a mission. Two years after losing his father to cancer, James is embarking on an 18,000 km journey around Australia, by motorbike, in aid of children with cancer.

All funds raised by James for the Children's Cancer Foundation will help fund research into new and kinder treatments for children, please donate to support James' fundraiser today.

"My father Paul passed away on 17 May 2015 at the age of 54. When he was in hospital, we often discussed the tragedy of the disease in children and the worthiness of supporting the battle against childhood cancer," James recalls.

"When my father passed, a friend of his, Steven, wrote an amazing letter to my family. Steven shared how he and Dad had planned to ride around Australia on their motorbikes when they were younger, and how he had planned to lobby Dad to do this when he got better."

This March, in honour of his father, James will set out from his hometown of Paringa in country South Australia and circumnavigate Australia (including Tasmania) to complete the journey his father never could.

James has set an ambitious target for his 'Eyes Open Ride' and aims to raise $50,000 for the Children's Cancer Foundation to support childhood cancer research. Plus, every dollar donated to the Foundation will be doubled as James makes a personal donation of $50,000 distributed to 10 different hospitals with cancer wards along the journey to help provide toys and much needed equipment.

"What I really hope to do is encourage dialogue between people about the needs of others all across Australia, particularly ill children, and to give people the opportunity to donate and support others."
