Run Melbourne Record

The Foundation's 2017 Run Melbourne team, led by Team Captain Kate Langbroek, took to the Melbourne streets in July participating in the 5km walk, 10km run and the half marathon and raising $60,000 in support of the Foundation's work.

The team included 7-year-old Areeb who completed his first half marathon. At such a young age, Areeb had to jump through a few hoops to prove that he was in a strong position to not only enter, but complete the 21 km run. Finishing in position 4,238 out of 4,937 half marathon runners.

The Foundation's team was bouyed with support from our corporate partner CrownBet who entered 38 staff. "It was great to be a part of the big day and to lend our support to the Foundation," said a CrownBet team member.

19-year-old Ante ran in honour of his young cousin who is fighting cancer.

Helping motivate his pal Kate Langebroek to do her best, comedian Dave Hughes promised to donate $2,000 for every kilometre that Kate ran. While running isn't her speciality, Kate was determined to make Hughsey put his money where his mouth is - she ran all 6 kilometres and Hughesy, true to his word, made a generous donation of $12,000 to the Foundation.

Thank you to everyone that ran, donated and cheered us along this year. We will be back at Run Melbourne on Sunday, 29 July 2018. Register your interest to run, walk or volunteer today.
