Welcoming our new CEO – Margaret Fitzherbert

The Children’s Cancer Foundation today announced the appointment of Margaret Fitzherbert as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Margaret has a wealth of experience as a CEO and public sector leader, coupled with a personal connection to cancer. During her time as CEO of Monash University’s McKinnon Institute for Political Leadership, Margaret successfully guided a small yet dynamic organisation from start-up to great success, establishing a national footprint within a complex stakeholder and funding environment. She has also gained valuable experience in the university sector, hospital administration, and has dedicated her time as a volunteer Ambassador for Bowel Cancer Australia. Margaret has a longstanding commitment to not-for-profit boards, including as chair of the board of the Royal Women’s Hospital.

Chair of the Children’s Cancer Foundation, Jaala Pulford said, “Margaret is a strategic thinker and exceptional communicator, and as a former MP and advisor, has a deep understanding of the intersection between public policy and not-for-profit organisations. Her diverse background and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the success and growth of our Foundation’s important work. This appointment marks an exciting chapter for our Foundation”.

Upon her appointment, Margaret commented, “The Foundation is a very special and successful organisation, with a critical purpose, and I am honoured to be its new Chief Executive Officer.

I’m excited to work with the board and staff on the Foundation’s next chapter – with the needs of children with cancer, and their families, at the heart of everything we do”.

Margaret commenced the role of CEO for the Children’s Cancer Foundation on Monday, 29 January.
