Associate Professor Ngaire Elwood AM is the Director of the BMDI Cord Blood Bank at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and runs the cord blood research laboratory at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Ngaire has devoted her career to improving cancer outcomes and ensuring patients are receiving world’s best therapies; she was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll for Women in 2022 and made a Member of the Order of Australia AM in 2024. She is an experienced board director. Ngaire has a lived experience of childhood cancer, undergoing treatment as a teenager at the RCH for osteosarcoma (bone cancer), now a long-time survivor.
