Our Patron

Gillon McLachlan, Chief Executive, Australian Football League

Across Australia and regardless of whether you follow AFL, Gillon McLachlan is a household name.

Gillon has created substantial influence in the league since assuming the role of Chief Executive at the AFL in 2014, including managing cultural changes around racism, sexism and homophobia and introducing the AFL Women’s league.

In the same year he stepped up to be Australia’s footy boss, Gillon also proudly put on the guernsey as Patron of the Foundation.

‘’When I was appointed Chief Executive of the AFL in 2014, I was privileged to be given the opportunity to become a patron of the Children’s Cancer Foundation and The Million Dollar Lunch. As the father of four young children, the commitment of the Children’s Cancer Foundation is deeply important to me.

I’m proud to say that more than $10 million has been raised across the last five years, with a vision of a 100 per cent cure rate. I would urge all people and all organisations to provide what support you can, no matter how small, as the difference being made to lives every day continues to be repaid many times over’’. Gillon McLachlan, February 2020
